La Mancha Group is back once again to bring us the Philippines greatest fireworks competition - World Pyro Olympics!! They were the first to give us a local pyro competition featuring the best fireworks companies around the world.

Guess what? They are bringing another first in the country. The 2009 World Pyro Olympics is a Pyro Musical competition, the first ever in the Philippines!

The theme and slogan of the 4th World Pyro Olympics which will begin every Saturdays from November 14 to December 12. Do not go to SM Mall of Asia / San Miguel by the Bay because it will be held at the heart of Bonifacio Global City, Makati City (I refuse to recognize Fort Bonifacio as part of Taguig and secondly, people get confused if you say Taguig, but they don’t if you say Makati City).

This year’s competitors and firing schedule are:

• November 14, 2009 - South Korea (Hanwha) and U.S.A. (Res)
• November 21, 2009 - Germany (Nico Lunig) and China (Glorious)
• November 28, 2009 - Japan (Marutamaya) and Australia (Explosive)
• December 5, 2009 - Canada (Pyro Studios) and Italy (Parente)

Then on the 12^th of December 2009, there will be a Fellowship of Fire where all participants will join together in one great fireworks show. And to end this years pyro olympics, La Mancha will have a fireworks exhibition to show where the Philippines is at already in terms of pyrotechnics.

There is an entrance fee just like in the previous WPO - that is if you want to get near and feel the thundering explosions. The VIP is at ₱1,500; the Special Viewing Area (SVA) priced at ₱500 each; and the General Viewing Area (GVA) for ₱200 each person.

The VIP free dinner will be provided by VIA MARE and everyone will get seats. The SVA will have food booths (not free anymore ) and seats, but the seats are not guaranteed - first come, first reserved.

The GVAs, as usual bring your own. For the rest, do expect that you will be very far from the event if you choose not to pay for the entrance. And since this will be in Bonifacio Global City, the view will probably be not that great since the place has gone into fast development the past few years. Compare that back in SM Mall of Asia / San Miguel by the Bay where we still have a great view.

Finally, gates open at 3:00 in the afternoon and the competition will start at around 6:30pm. Do not forget to bring umbrellas ^_^ It rained at least on one competition day since the first WPO. You’ve been warned!
